Remember the old song, “April showers bring May flowers?” Well, it’s almost July, and that means it’s almost past time to focus on how to draw flowers. Nevertheless, I’ve found quite a few cool websites and video tutorials for drawing flowers. So get out your art supplies and check out these resources.
GARDEN DRAWINGS — This site has some easy projects that involve “garden drawings.” Not really a “how to” site, but it’s a great idea and younger children can easily adapt the idea for their own creations: http://bookzoompa.wordpress.com/category/garden-drawings/
HOW TO DRAW FLOWERS — This page has 9 different step-by-step tutorials for drawing different varieties of flowers. They’re all easy to follow and worth a look. http://www.hellokids.com/r_1962/drawing-for-kids/drawing-tutorials-step-by-step/flowers
HOW TO DRAW A ROSE — There are a lot (I mean a LOT) of ads on this page. Still, it’s a very nice step-by-step on how to draw a rose. A bit “stylized” perhaps (as opposed to realistic), but still it’s a nice tutorial. https://www.easypeasyandfun.com/how-to-draw-a-rose/
Here’s a super easy tutorial on drawing flowers that will be great for your younger children:
For older children who are up for more of a challenge, here’s a video with twelve floral “doodles,” that will get them started on drawing more realistic looking flowers.
